Mini Masters believes in child-centered, exploratory learning, and all activities are based on leading research in early childhood learning and development. She purchased her Cambridge home from Habitat Choptank in May , a house that she helped to build alongside volunteers. Her journey to buying the home included completing hundreds of hours of sweat equity helping to build her future home and other Habitat homes, attending education classes, and meeting the program savings requirements to cover costs at settlement. As she began making her monthly mortgage payments, she also continued as a Habitat volunteer and ambassador. The Easton Family Y had of those 1, participants. The money raised from this event will benefit those in the community that are living at or below the poverty level so that they can attend Y programs that keep them safe and engaged.
The Y serves thousands of children and families in the region and each year the demand for financial aid for Y programs grows. And of course, the health benefits of exercise on Thanksgiving morning cannot be beat. There were serious runners, family teams, dogs, babies and costumes.
This annual event promises to become a Thanksgiving tradition almost as good as the turkey, side dishes and pumpkin pie. The competition began by inviting any public or private high school within an approximate mile radius of Easton and with a minimum of 12 singers to submit two recordings for blind auditions. A panel of judges reviewed each submission, and nine choirs were invited to participate in the finals. It was somewhat like the first round of The Voice but for choirs instead!
The prize funds will go directly back to the winning choral program and would help offset the cost of purchasing new music, hiring accompanists, and reducing the cost of the end of the year performance trip.
